Annabelle Pelaez is a recent graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh. Her practice explores how humans observe, alter and relate to the natural environment, focusing on the tension between attentive looking and human impact.

Working primarily through mixed-media drawing and painting on fabric, Pelaez uses processes of layering, erasure, staining and preservation. Her process-led practice draws on close observation of the landscape, shifting between micro and macro perspectives to examine how ways of seeing shape our understanding of the natural world. She is particularly interested in overlooked details and patterns, using them as a starting point to explore ecological change, memory and perception.

Selected for RSA New Contemporaries 2026, exhibiting at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh.

Recipient of the Society of Scottish Artists Graduate Award 2025, recognising her graduating body of work at Edinburgh College of Art. The award included a two-year membership with the Society of Scottish Artists and an invitation to exhibit in the SSA Annual Exhibition 2026 at the Royal Scottish Academy.
